We Are Back!
Like all educators, I have always enjoyed the beginning of a new school year. The hallways come alive, classrooms fill with new energy, and across our district, students and staff begin a new chapter together. There is also a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead through new experiences, new challenges, and new opportunities to grow.
For some of our students, this year marks the very beginning of their Harborfields journey. This week, members of the future Class of 2039 took their first steps into kindergarten, while the Class of 2027 is entering their final year, filled with milestones and “lasts” that will make this year especially meaningful. And for everyone in between, there is a new grade, a new classroom, new goals, and a year filled with possibilities.
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, we are also celebrating 70 years of Harborfields. This milestone gives us a chance to reflect on everything that has shaped our district while looking ahead to the future we are building together. I am excited for all that this new school year will bring and grateful to begin it alongside our students, staff, and entire Harborfields community.
Remembering September 11: A Day of Remembrance and Service
As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause as a Harborfields community to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders and countless others who answered the call to help, and recognize the families and communities forever changed by that tragic day. For many of us, the memories of September 11 remain vivid even a quarter-century later. As educators and parents, we also have an important responsibility to help a new generation understand not only the tragedy of that day, but also the remarkable compassion, courage, unity, and service that followed.
September 11 is also recognized as the National Day of Service and Remembrance, providing each of us with an opportunity to honor those we lost through acts of kindness and service to others. I encourage every member of our Harborfields Family to consider finding a meaningful way to give back, volunteer your time, support a neighbor, contribute to a local organization, thank a first responder, or simply perform an unexpected act of kindness. Twenty-five years later, one of the most meaningful ways we can honor the legacy of September 11 is by strengthening the communities we share and demonstrating to our children the power each of us has to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Help Shape the Future for Our Students: Join Our Career Readiness Network!
One of the greatest resources we can provide our students is access to the knowledge, experiences, and expertise that exist within our own community. The Harborfields Career Readiness Network (CRN) brings together local businesses, professionals, educators, alumni, and community members to help students explore careers, develop real-world skills, and discover the many pathways available to them after graduation. There are numerous ways to get involved, from joining the CRN Committee or serving as a guest speaker to hosting a student for a job-shadow experience, offering an internship, or participating in our Career Connect, Trade, and Talent Expo on November 17.
Whether you can volunteer for a single event or become an ongoing partner, your experience can help a student imagine possibilities for their future that they may not have considered before. I encourage members of our community to consider sharing your time, talents, and professional experiences with our students by joining the Career Readiness Network!
